Wind Farm Project Proposed For Pays Plat First Nation.

February 11, 2004--Pays Plat First Nation announced the signing of an agreement today with Toronto based wind developer, Ventus Energy Inc. (www.ventusenergy.ca). The basis of this joint initiative, the first of its kind in Canada, is to explore the development potential for a wind farm on the Pays Plat First Nation reserve, located on the north shore of Lake Superior.

Ventus Energy will initially install a meteorological tower at the site location on the Pays Plat First Nation reserve in order to conduct a formal wind assessment study. The exploratory findings from these studies will then be used to assess the verification of the area's wind resources, environmental impact, cost, and location implications. If the Pays Plat First Nation reserve is deemed a viable site, the development of the proposed wind farm will bring enormous business and economic benefits to the local community at large.

Says Chief Raymond Goodchild; "We look forward to working with the team at Ventus. Their wind expertise and capital will definitely help us to determine the feasibility of a wind farm development on our land and the positive economic impact that could result for our community."

Ventus Energy Inc. CEO John Douglas explained; "We believe that this co-development agreement is the first of its kind between a wind developer and a First Nation Band in Canada. We are very impressed with the leadership demonstrated by Pays Plat First Nation related to this form of much needed clean energy development in Northwestern Ontario. Wind power is the fastest growing energy segment in the world and whilst Canada boasts significant wind energy resources, wind energy production in Canada remains virtually unexploited to date in comparison to other countries. This trend is about to change."

Wind power is gaining popularity as a viable alternative to current energy sources as it is renewable, clean and readily accessible. Some analysts say that by 2005, wind power could be one of the cheapest sources of electricity available. The benefits of wind energy are being recognized throughout the world and particularly in Europe. At present, countries such as Denmark are already producing 10% of their electricity via wind power developments.

A positive outcome from this feasibility study between Ventus Energy Inc. and Pays Plat First Nation reserve will mark the development of one of the first wind farm projects of its kind in Northwestern Ontario.
