Click Spam Could Ruin The Business
"Pay-per-click advertising is big, big, big business. So are bogus hits on Internet ads. It's search giants against scam artists in an arms race that could crash the entire online economy . . . . . ."
http://www.wired.com/
Tell us what you think. Click spam is an unfortunate cost of doing business if you're an advertiser. It appears though, that the major players, Google and Yahoo!, are on the ball and will prevent the practice from ruining a excellent advertising medium. Stay tuned for updates.

Honda entering the solar call business
"Honda Motor Co. said on Monday it plans to start mass-producing solar cells in 2007, eyeing growing demand . . ."
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/
Are you as excited as we are? This is big news folks. Honda is an industrial heavyweight with great name recognition. If they're talking 'enviromentally friendly' then people are listening. We at Smart Energy Alternatives are loving this news. Join us in applauding Honda.

Hydrogen may hold promise, but investment comes first.
"Move over, Ben Franklin. Todd Livingstone has a plan to solve the energy crisis by capturing huge amounts of energy from . . . . . ."
http://www.wired.com/
Is hydrogen the answer? Hydrogen holds some interesting and very promising prospects for the future. Smart Energy Alternatives is waiting to see how the technology will evolve over the next several years before betting on any single horse in the race.

Don't Be Fooled By Lower Gasoline Prices
"With the season's first snowfall hitting the Northeast last week, it is becoming apparent that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita did far more to the nation's energy equation than spoil . . ."
http://www.usnews.com/
The energy crisis isn't over. Some observers believe a huricane induced energy crisis was short-lived and we no longer have anything to fear from the "peak-oil" talk which it spawned. Don't you believe it.

Fossil Fuel Demand Must Decrease To Avoid Energy Crisis
"In one respect the British journalist . . . . . ."
http://www.taipeitimes.com/
Interesting editorial on renewables. As the crisis looms ever larger every year, or every day depending on one's position, the prospect for renewables replacing fossil fuels is fueling more cogent and receptive discussion.

Gas prices peaking in Britain as winter chill approaches
"Fears that Britain is lurching toward an energy crisis were growing . . . . . ."
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/

Energy synergy might make the economics work . . .
"Two scientists say they have come up with a way to make hydrogen fuel cheap enough to compete with . . . . . ."
http://www.wired.com/
Energy synergy may hold promise. Perhaps the marriage of convenience of different alternative energies holds the key to making an economical change before the crisis mode dictates change occur. We'll keep our eyes on this one. Stay tuned.

Coal To Oil Being Looked At
"Coal-to-oil conversion approach is gaining momentum . . ."
http://www.thedesertsun.com/
Necessity dictates this course. You agree? Pennsylvania is already producing! Great news and holds great promise as oil depletion continues. We need time to develop and implement alternative technologies and coal-to-oil, although not a solution, is a bridge from where we are to where we need to be

OPEC Strives To Improve Oil Production Tech
"OPEC plans to establish a research and development institute in an effort to improve oil production . . ."
http://www.worldtribune.com/
It's like fighting against the tide. Oil is a non-renewable resource. Ultimately, despite new R & D, the alternatives to petroleum and natural gas must prevail. In the hopes of preventing a peak oil nightmare scenario, the writers at SEA hope they're successful in finding more oil.

Petroleum is being depleted . . . quickly . . .
"If you think oil prices are high at $40 a barrel then wait till they are four times that much . . . . . ."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/
What do you think? $100/barrel too much? What this article predicted back in 2004 has come to pass. Higher fuel prices have squeezed consumers and businesses. Layoffs and production slowdowns are affecting business positioning and market share in the U.S. What's next? Stay tuned.

Coal To Oil Holds Promise
"Montana could produce oil and other petroleum products from the millions of tons of coal reserves it owns . . ."
http://www.billingsgazette.com/
Will coal stave off the peak? Coal to oil, known as Fischer Tropsch technology, will definitely help. It may even be able to ward off some effects of peak oil and grant us time to develop more stable reliance on alternatives. Time will tell. Stay tuned.

Analyst Says Peak Oil 'Fast Approaching'
"Middle Eastern countries may have far less than officially stated and that oil prices could double . . ."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/
Give us your thoughts. The warnings are abundant if listened to. Peak Oil is approaching and we'd better get ready for it. If as a society we aren't, then as individuals we must. Keep in touch with SmartEnergyAlternatives.com for continued news links on this topic.

The Peak Oil Conundrum
"Somewhere between our current fossil fuel binge and the promise of a sustainable energy future lies . . ."
http://www.renewwisconsin.org/
Peak Oil and Imperialism . . . Hand in hand There is a clear connection between Peak Oil, national survival as the lone superpower, and imperialist wars abroad. The article highlights some topics of interest and demonstrates the difficulty in changing the course the U.S. has embarked on for energy.

When Is The End?
"Get out of the way. American capitalism has declared war on the laws of physics . . ."
http://www.countercurrents.org/
2M barrel increase per day . . . until when?
"OPEC to increase production . . ."
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/
What happens when production can no longer be increased? These production increases, we believe, are more to stabilize shaky U.S. financial markets than a real attempt to address the fundamental issues of demand outpacing production. If there were massive reserves remaining to be tapped in the future, then why aren't there new refineries coming online? Refinieries can't keep up with demand . . why not build new ones? We at SmartEnergyAlternatives.com are looking for articles on new refineries being built. Keep checking back and we'll do our best to keep you informed.

Fuel Prices Dip - But don't get too excited
"The average retail nationwide gasoline price fell sharply in the latest week to $2.955 a gallon . . ."
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/
Aren't you excited? We're not. Why not get excited about lower gas prices? Be happy you can keep some extra money in your account, and possibly even use the few dollars you save to pay down any debt you might have. Debt is slavery to the corporate machine. It is to be avoided by SmartEnergyAlternative.com followers. Even if you have a corporate job . . . be free . . . debt free. I digress . . . but the cost of fuel must by the nature of the finite resource from which it is derived, increase in price as demand increases and the supply shrinks. Unless coal is soon being converted into auto fuels, the price must follow a long-term price trend upward. Use any pullback in prices to save money and reduce debt, but don't go out buying an H2 thinking gas prices are headed back to $1.00 per gallon. Take care.

Higher fuel costs are going to cost the consumers . . .
"Import Prices Rise Along With Oil . . ."
http://www.marketwatch.com/
Let us know what you think. Import prices are rising as fuel costs are passed along to consumers. This is simple economics folks. Expect that any increase in transportation or production costs to be passed along to you. If you eat, and most of us do, the cost of harvesting, planting, fertilizing, and transporting the food in order for it to arrive on your grocery store shelf will be seen in the cost of the product. There is only so much margin squeeze the producers can or will take out of their bottom line. The fuel costs will come out of your bottom line . . . in higher prices. Be prepared.

Average price above $3 per gallon. Let the economic pain begin.
"Pain at the pump gets worse . . ."
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/
How will the rising energy costs affect the economy? The stock market roared to life today (9/6/2005), but how will the reduced spending ability of the American consumer hurt profits in some industries? Our opinion at SmartEnergyAlternatives is that this is not a good thing. To finance the rebuilding effort, we're looking for the government to sell bonds which will allow the Fed to print more money. This in turn reduces the spending power of the dollars you hold. The impace of Katrina will reach far beyond the Gulf Coast and squeeze many economically marginal people beyond the breaking point.

What are the implications of Huricane Katrina? Michael Ruppert offers his analysis . . .
"Several things are now becoming clear. It is unlikely that New Orleans will ever be significantly rebuilt. . . ."

http://news.yahoo.com/
Will Montana's coal save the U.S. from peak oil? Let us hear from you.
