Peak Oil

One of the key topics we are concerned with is Peak Oil. We aim to keep our readers up to date on the latest information pertaining to the dwindling oil reserves globally. This crisis, which has been almost totally ignored by corporate media until recently, has the potential to reshape our lifestyles and cultures in radical ways. Our economies are driven by petroleum and many of the products we use and take for granted are derived from petroleum. This topic is of utmost urgency to us at SmartEnergyAlternatives.com and our regular readers.

Water

Clean water is essential for life. It is also a source of energy. Hydroelectric energy is a critical component to any sensible long-term plan for non-petroleum energy solutions.

Wind Energy

Wind Energy is an increasingly important part of the alternative energy solution. The U.S. and Europe have been expanding their use of wind energy and there's great hope for its future use. As increasingly efficient energy generation technologies are developed, wind energy should continue to play an important role in allowing us to meet our energy needs.

Solar Energy

Solar energy is derived from sunlight. It's clean and an increasingly efficient method of energy capture. We anticipate that solar energy will be central in our meeting our energy needs under the current energy production paradigm. More efficient solar cells will allow us to power our homes and possibly even our transportation in the foreseeable future.

Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy holds great promise for the production of massive amounts of energy. There are also risks and issues involved with nuclear derived energy. Meltdowns and by-product disposal are just two of the issues facing an energy starved world when dealing with nuclear energy production. Without the advent of an alternative which has the energy production capability of nuclear, we may be forced from sheer neccesity to take the nuclear option, just to keep our societies running.
